This could be a simple javascript alert box or a message displayed on the page itself. I tried the following codes in the Row Updated event of both the gridview and the objectdatasource: System.

Write("alert(Your updated has been saved successfully')"); or Client Script. Get Type(), "myalert", "alert('" + Your updated has been saved successfully+ "');", true); But in either case, no message box is displayed. Thank you so much for directing me in the right direction.

Both the master and detail gridviews have link buttons for edit and add new activities. If I used the same code in the button click event of a button on the page, then it works fine. Now I want to show a message either through an alert box or a message through a web control such as label or literal control.

After either inserting new row or updating an existing row, I have to show a message box saying "Your update has been saved successfully". I event tried to set the text value of a asp: Literal control.

it just shoes the progressbar runnning and doesn't invokes the updating event ?

There could be an error on the serverside and the clientside is not updated since it's using a callback.

How do I stop the application from stopping once the exception has been called and carry on.

I want this because I have two columns depending on one editable column, so when I edit cell from that one, cells in other two columnd must be changed accordingly (not just values but styles also). I'm waiting for any help about cell style changing or forcing ASPx Griw View to refresh from data source..

Once I click play again, the code carries on and the program continues.

I am trying to display an error message in the edit section of a ASPx Grid View when a user has tried to submit invalid data.

I have been looking around and have found one blog that allows me to place an error message in red once it has filed validation by throwing a New Invalid Operation Exception.

Based on your aspx markup I see that the ASPx Grid View's Data Source is set at runtime.

i am using devexpress grid with edit functioality to update the records in the gridview the codeis being done in & c#but while clikcing the update after editing the records .

Row Updated grid events to set custom property containing message into ASPx Grid View. protected void ASPx Grid View1_Row Updated(object sender, ASPx Data Updated Event Args e) { if (e. JSProperties["cp Updated Message"] = "Your update has been saved successfully"; } } This works fine for the master gridview.
